What if the wrong person is using the system and a possible abductor is tracking the child because they gave out their cell number. How is this new technology safer. Is it unhackable?

I don’t want other people tracking my child and knowing where they are going.

I see one danger in this. Not that children shoudn’t have limited cell phone access, but relying on technology as a nanny. I see too many children given too much lattitude for their age and maturity level. It makes me question the maturity and responsibility of their parents. A cell phone should not be a substitute for good concientious parenting. Technology has its limits and doesn’t always function the way or when you expect. Relying on tracking to give children even more lattitude is asking for trouble. The cell can be “ditched”, dropped/damaged, or taken away by a savvy kidnapper. Then it’s useless as a nanny and can give a false sense that they are ok while some devious abuser is getting away.

Excellent technology for parents. There is a tendancy for parents to think they are being intrusive into their children’s lives. However, these days we need to make sure we know what are (at least, preteen) children are doing on the Internet and where they are.

I think this is an absolute necessary tool for parents today.. With children being abducted it is a good idea to even let a 7-8 yr olds have cell phones with Restrictions set on the phone of course but just for that reason. You never know when you will need to know where you child is when you think they are somewhere safe.
